System and method for consultation and obtaining a communications network a degree of recognition of a user of that network statements relating to said user, where a verifier node (100) transmits (s30) to a controller node (200) a message for consulting a degree of recognition (30) of the user (20) statement (10). The controller (200) determines by applying at least one rule, on behalf of the user (20), a degree of recognition (30) to the return (10) and transmits it to the verifier (100). The controller and the verifier are different network nodes that may belong to different administrative domains with no trust relationship between them. The rule to be applied for each statement can be changed at any time by the user. This system allows to know the degree of recognition of statements that can be stored or issued by entities located in different network nodes and belonging to different administrative domains with no trust relationship between them.
