The method involves receiving mirror images of an illuminating device (1) and transmitting electromagnetic radiation by an observation device. The images are produced by reflection of the illuminating device at a surface of a measurement object (7). A spectrum of radiation is selected such that a part of the spectrum in a volume of the measurement object is absorbed and reflected at the surface. Cameras (8) that are sensitive for the radiation are provided in the observation device. The cameras are insensitive to the part of the spectrum by their design or by additionally provided filters. An independent claim is also included for a device for measuring a surface of a reflective object.
