The invention concerns a method of preparing a crystallized solid material having the formula LiCl.2Al(OH)3,nH2O, where n is between 0.01 and 10, the method comprising the following steps: (a) mixing, in an aqueous medium, at least one alumina source and at least one lithium source in order to obtain a suspension; (b) filtering the suspension obtained in step (a) in order to obtain a paste; (c) drying the paste obtained at the end of step (b) at a temperature of between 20 and 80°C for a period of between 1 and 12 hours; (d) shaping by mixing-extrusion of the dried paste in the presence of at least one solid alumina precursor and of at least one acid in solution in proportions such that the acid/Al molar ratio is between 0.01 and 1.2 in order to obtain extruded products; and (e) drying the extruded products obtained at the end of step (d) at a temperature of between 20 and 200°C for a period of between 1 and 20 hours in order to obtain the crystallized solid material having the formula LiCl.2Al(OH)3,nH2O in the form of extruded products. The invention also concerns a method of extracting lithium from saline solutions using the material thus prepared. The invention further concerns a solid crystallized material having the formula LiCl.2Al(OH)3,nH2O, n being between 0.01 and 10, shaped. The invention also concerns a device for performing the lithium-extraction method.
