The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for optimizing an assembly sequence based on an assembly direction of components. According to the present invention, provided is a method for optimizing an assembly sequence based on an assembly direction of components comprising: the steps of arranging an assembly sequence of components generated for an assembly model formed by a plurality of components as a disassembly sequence; selecting components except for base components, which have priority of the assembly sequence among the components, to inspect an assembly direction; performing disassembly simulation in the selected component according to the disassembly sequence and along a plurality of disassembly directions from the assembly model; analyzing the change of a common surface between the base component and the selected component along each disassembly direction; selecting an optimal assembly direction corresponding to an optimal disassembly direction by selecting the optimal disassembly direction for each selected component based on the change of the common surface; and reflecting the information of the optimal assembly direction selected in each selected component to the assembly sequence of the generated components. According to the method and the apparatus for optimizing the assembly sequence based on the assembly direction of the component, the method and the apparatus select an optimal assembly direction for each component, optimize an assembly sequence by reflecting the optimal assembly direction for each component to the deducted assembly sequence, and automatically modify errors of the assembly sequence.
