Disclosed are an object sensing device and an object sensing method capable of sensing a region on a display touched by an object. The object sensing device can control the operation of a light source or a camera included in an object sensing device based on the photographed pattern image of a pattern on the display. The object sensing device can determine whether or not the brightness of the current light source or the exposure time of the camera is appropriate by analyzing the pattern expressed on the pattern image. The object sensing device can determine optimal object sensing conditions by increasing the brightness of the light source or increasing the exposure time of the camera if the pattern expressed on the pattern image does not satisfy preset conditions.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2015
