The present invention relates to a silicon nanowire array including a metal layer; and a silicon nanowire vertically arranged on one side of the metal layer wherein the silicon nanowires are completely separated in a lower part. Also, an anode for lithium ion batteries in the present invention comprises a metal electrode; and an anode material consisting of the silicon nanowire vertically arranged on one side of the metal layer wherein the silicon nanowire is completely separated in a lower part. In the present invention, the silicon nanowire is completely separated each other without bulk silicon in the silicon nanowire array and lithium ion battery using the same, thereby preventing damage caused by volume expansion of silicon generated in a process of inserting and separating lithium ions.
