Mixed-granular high-level redundancy for NVM provides better error recovery and / or reduced redundancy information overhead for improved high-level redundancy operations. For example, pages of less reliable NVMs with relatively large errors are operated in high-level redundancy modes with relatively high error protection at the expense of relatively large redundancy information. At the same time, blocks of more reliable NVMs operate in higher-level redundancy modes with relatively little error protection, at the cost of relatively little redundancy information. Compared to techniques that operate the entire NVM in higher-level redundancy modes with relatively less error protection, the techniques described herein provide better error recovery. Compared to techniques for operating an entire NVM in higher-level redundancy modes with relatively much error protection, the techniques described herein provide reduced redundancy information overhead.
