The present invention relates to a rainfall catchment apparatus to be installed on the rooftop of an apartment house or the like, comprising: a catchment tank (20) to collect and store rainwater; and an upper plate (10) which opens and closes the catchment tank (20) and increases a catchment area when the upper plate is opened. In the catchment tank (20) of the rainfall catchment apparatus for automatic opening and closing and catchment area enlargement, a main cylinder (30) for automatically opening and closing the upper plate (10), a movable gripper (41), and a fixated gripper (42) are installed. According to the present invention, the rainfall catchment apparatus maximizes a rainfall catchment area in a confined space such as the rooftop of an apartment house; and simplifies the overall rainfall utilization facilities without a separate water storage facility for the utilization of reservoir water by making the catchment apparatus function as a water tank.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2015
