The present invention relates to a blood pressure reducing composition and a primer set for Monascus purpureus NTU 568. More specifically, the composition can be a red mold dioscorea prepared by inoculating a Monascus purpureus NTU 568 to a dioscorea substrate and then treating the inoculated dioscorea with culturing and drying processes. The composition is able to reduce blood pressure and prevent the vascular wall from pathological deterioration, therefore, the composition can be applied to clinical treatment and health food. Moreover, the present invention also provides nucleotide sequence for Monascus purpureus NTU 568 and the primer set therefor to facilitate the person skilled in Monascus purpureus NTU 568 related art through DNA molecule identification labels, thereby eliminating the need to culture isolates and cultivates.
