The present invention relates to a process for producing steel strips having a thickness of 0.8 to 4.5 mm, which has amorphous, partially amorphous or microcrystalline structure with a particle size of 10 to 10000 nm, and a corresponding type of flat product. To this end, in accordance with the invention, molten steel is cast into the cast strip (B) in the casting apparatus (2) and cooled at an accelerated rate. The melt contains two or more additional elements belonging to the group of "Si, B, C, P ", besides Fe and unavoidable impurities due to manufacture. In this case, 1.2 to 7.0% of Si, 0.4 to 4.0% of B, 0.5 to 4.0% of C, and 1.5 to 8.0% of P are applied to the contents of the above elements (by weight%). The flat product according to the present invention has a hardness HV0.5 of 760 to 900 under the conditions of the corresponding composition and the corresponding type of tissue.
