The present invention relates to a method for degrading beta-glucan in Schizophyllum commune into a low molecular weight compound by using beta-glucanase derived from a Paenibacillus sp. strain WRL301. Low molecular weight polysaccharides can be obtained by means of an agar plate containing beta-glucan bonded with trypan blue, by selectively screening an enzyme hydrolyzing a beta-1,3-1,6 glycosidic bond or a strain producing the enzyme and then applying the enzyme or the strain to Schizophyllum commune polysaccharides thereafter.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2016
