The present invention relates to a nickel carrying catalyst coated with silica, a method for producing same, and a method for producing synthetic gas using the same. More specifically, the nickel carrying catalyst of the present invention is obtained by coating the prior nickel catalyst with silica, and thus has high resistance against carbon deposition and sintering phenomena. Therefore, catalytic activity of the nickel carrying catalyst can be maintained even at the high temperatures of reaction for a long time. Accordingly, when the nickel carrying catalyst is used for a process of producing synthetic gas by a dry modification reaction of methane, efficiency of synthetic gas production is increased.
