The present invention relates to a voice recognition based robot control system for education or as a toy, and a robot control method using the same. The voice recognition based robot control system includes a voice processing unit, and a robot unit. The voice processing unit generates signals from a voice, and includes: a data matching unit, a signal generating unit, and a signal transmitting unit. The data matching unit matches the inputted voice with data registered in a database. The signal generating unit generates a signal from the matched data. The signal transmitting unit transmits the signal to the robot unit. The robot unit operates a robot through the signal transmitted from the voice processing unit, and includes a receiving module and a control module. The receiving module receives the signal from the signal transmitting unit. The control module controls the operation of the robot by interpreting data based on the signal received from the receiving module.
