The present invention relates to a system and a method for detecting an underground target based on adaptive signal estimation. The method according to an embodiment of the present invention includes the steps of: measuring an underground penetration radar signal including a direct transmission wave, a ground surface combination wave, and a target reflection wave; estimating estimation values of signal components corresponding to the direct transmission wave and the ground surface combination wave that are included in the measured underground penetration radar signal by using an adaptive signal estimation method; and obtaining a signal component corresponding to the target reflection wave by obtaining a difference between the underground penetration radar signal and the estimation values, thereby removing, in real time, an interference signal including the direct transmission wave and the ground surface combination wave based on the adaptive signal estimation.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2015
