Method for angle estimation for radar system for detecting environment for vehicle, involves deciding existence of situation with single target, with resolved targets or with unresolved targets based on analysis
The angle estimation method involves calculating a spatial spectrum for a processing cell depending on a spatial monitoring vector, where local maxima of the spatial spectrum is analyzed. The existence of situation with single target, a situation with multiple resolved targets or a situation with multiple unresolved targets is decided based on the analysis. A high-resolution angle estimation is carried out in the situation with unresolved targets. The analysis of two adjacent local maxima or two largest local maxima are performed.
