The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for correcting a light source based on high-brightness area selection. The present invention comprises devices and steps of: detecting the high-brightness area from input of a camera; selecting effective pixels in the high-brightness area; supposing a light source from the selected effective pixels; applying the supposed light source to a color homeostasis model; and storing an output image. By the devices and the steps of the present invention, a method for implementing a hardware can be improved, and accuracy of hardware implantation can be increased.
