METHOD OF DISPLAYING CHARACTERS FOR THE BLIND USING HAPTIC PATTERNS, A TOUCHSCREEN THE METHOD APPLIED THERETO, AND A DISPLAY USING THE TOUCHSCREEN

The present invention relates to a character display method for a visually impaired user using an haptic pattern, a touchscreen applied with the method, and a display device using the touchscreen. More specifically, the present invention uses a touchscreen which integrates a touch panel sensing a users touch point and an electrical stimulation pattern transmitting an electrical stimulus to the body part in contact with the touch pattern. Multiple character cells having a pair of adjacent unit cells are configured on the touchscreen. The respective unit calls provide different haptic textures through different electrical stimulus patterns. Accordingly, one character cell can express various characters and symbols including Korean and English alphabets as well as digits and other special characters by combining various haptic textures provided in the unit cells, thereby providing text information though the character and symbol combinations. The user can recognize the haptic pattern delivered to fingers of the user to recognize the content on the touchscreen while scanning the touchscreen with the fingers.
