The method comprises determining the pressure of the exhaust gas at the outlet of the turbine, measuring pressure at the outlet of the compressor, determining the pressure coefficient of the turbine based on the pressure of the exhaust gas of the turbine and the pressure at the outlet of the compressor; calculating the exhaust gas temperature at the outlet of the turbine as a function of the pressure coefficient of the turbine, determining the reference temperature curve of exhaust gas in the plane defined by the exhaust gas temperature and the pressure coefficient of the turbine, and controlling the gas turbine for keeping the operating point on the reference temperature curve of exhaust gas.
