FIELD: construction.;SUBSTANCE: method is proposed to model ice cover in an experiment tank, including freezing of ice cover, formation of non-through slots on the ice cover with depth that is less than thickness of the frozen ice cover, and subsequent performance of tests of a model of an engineering structure or a vessel. For formation of non-through slots on the ice cover they previously, prior to freezing of the ice cover, in the working zone along the experiment tank, pull vertically aligned strips or a row of threads arranged above each other with common height, which corresponds to the required depth of non-through slots created in ice, having lower adhesion strength of adhesion with ice, which are placed from each other along the width of the experiment tank at the distance exceeding width of the model of the engineering structure or vessel, tested in the ice experiment tank, and arranged along the height so that the upper thread or the upper edge of the strip are at the level of free surface of water in the experiment tank, and slots on the ice cover are produced by means of withdrawal of specified strips or threads frozen into ice thickness from the ice cover. Also the device is proposed for realisation of this method.;EFFECT: increased validity of the process of modelling of partially cut ice cover.;4 cl, 2 dwg
