A cutting tool (20) has a cutting insert (22) which is fastened in a tool shank (24) by means of a clamping bolt (26), two opposite side surfaces (46, 48) of a body section (40) of the cutting insert (22) being between two projections (28, 30) of the tool shank (24) spaced apart from one another. The body section (40) has a recess (44) which extends between the two opposite side surfaces (46, 48) and opens to a bottom surface (50). The recess (44) has an undercut (52) with at least one undercut partial surface (54) with respect to a forward direction (F). The clamping bolt (26) can be moved from a locked position, in which the bolt shaft (60) has a threaded section (64) which engages with one of the projections (28, 30), and a locking section (66) directly in front of the undercut partial surface ( 54) is rotated into an unlocked position, in which the threaded section (64) remains in engagement with the projection and no section of the bolt shank (60) is located directly in front of the at least one undercut partial surface (54).
