Provided are a system and method for gesture-based control of an electronic system. The system comprises a recognition device for recognizing a gesture-based input; a space detector for recognizing a portion of the space occupied by the gesture-based input; and a correlator for correlating the portion of the space and the gesture-based input with a predefined process associated with the electronic system.
