Methods and apparatus capture images using a stereo camera or a camera network that are directed to a first location. The first location comprises a plurality of parallel primary tracks that are merged into a reduced number of at least one secondary track, with moving elements in the primary tracks initiating transactions while in the primary tracks and completing transactions while in the primary tracks the secondary lane. Such methods and apparatuses calculate distances of moving elements from the camera to identify in which of the primary tracks each of the moving elements was before it was merged with the secondary track. These methods and apparatuses then arrange the transactions in a merge order corresponding to a sequence in which the moving elements have entered from the primary track to the secondary track. Also, the methods and devices issue the transactions at the merge.
