The bed has lifting devices (5) for lifting platforms (4) of a passage of the platforms from lowered position to high position. The devices and the platforms form assemblies (2, 3). The lifting device of each assembly is arranged under a load-bearing support plane formed by the platforms. One of the assemblies is movably mounted with respect to the other assembly in a direction (D) orthogonal to up and down direction for allowing maintenance of the lifting device vertically to the platform independent from a surface of a load-bearing area formed by the platforms. The platforms are formed of a deck and a side extension bar.
