The device (D) has a housing (BC) in which a gear shift lever (LC) is arranged, where the lever is fixed attached to an axis (A1). A reference rotating plate is mounted on the housing around another axis (A2) that is coupled with the former axis to actuate control cables of a gear box. A toggle-type recall unit (MR) or helicoid spring comprises a set of parts (B1, B2, R1, R2) that is coupled to a third axis (A3) and a fourth axis (A4). The recall unit is vertically shifted to exert a total return torque on the lever, where the torque decreases when the lever is rotated to select a speed.
