The device (1) has support points i.e. casters mounted on stem and fixed on a rear part i.e. base of the device. The support points form a complete system when a hand grinder/polisher (4) is fixed on the device. One of the support points is a reference support point i.e. surfacing tool, fixed on a head of the grinder or polisher. A balance beam (15) pivots on an axle (20) so as to be abutted against back of the grinder or polisher. Position of the beam is fixed by using a tightening system.
