The invention proposes to manufacture a denitrification catalyst as follows: - a first component (A) is obtained by, successively, activation with nitric acid of a carbon compound in divided form, rinsing, impregnation by a solution of urea and calcination; - A second component (B) in powder form is obtained by, successively, precipitation of metal hydroxides, drying and calcination; and - mixing the first component and the second component so that the resulting mixture contains between 25% and 75% by weight of the first component.
