A process for the manufacture of a component for the car industry in which a metal fitting 1 is combined with a fitting made from a fibre composite material 2; the fibre composite fitting is moulded with at least one flange 3 and heated to a temperature which enables the fibre composite material to be moulded; the metal fitting which is perforated in areas designed to be combined with the flange(s) is laid over the flange(s) of the fibre composite fitting, and the still hot material of the fibre composite fitting is squeezed into the perforations by the application of a pressing force on the so that an interlocking connection is produced. Preferably, the perforations are drawn through so that a collar is formed which will be completely filled by the fittings material.
