The method (1) involves determining a lateral acceleration (ay) of a motor vehicle based on a current speed (vx) of the vehicle. A road curvature (K) of a curved track section is determined by an optical detection system (18). A desired current curve slope of the vehicle is calculated from the acceleration determination result. A set-curve slope is calculated by weighting the curve slope with a velocity-dependent target curve slope weighting factor. The curvature is determined in accordance with the acceleration determination using a vehicle navigation system (30). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for determining a target curve inclination of a motor vehicle while driving on a curvilinear lane section (2) a motor vehicle.
