The device has a metering unit (13) arranged in a downstream of a separator (12) for forming a reserve of fiber material with a downstream acceleration section to convey the fiber material to a suction rod conveyor (15). The suction rod conveyor establishes a strand and transports the strand in a transport direction (T) that is transversely directed to a conveying direction (F). A temporary storage unit (16) is arranged in the separator, and passes the fiber material at the metering unit. The temporary storage unit is associated with an additive supplying unit (17).
