PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods of detecting pathogen or disease specific T cells in a specific T cell population qualitatively, quantitatively, and sharply.SOLUTION: The method comprises a) bringing a first aliquot of a body fluid that contains individual antigen-presenting cells (APC) and T cells into contact with at least one antigen, b) incubating the first aliquot with at least one antigen for a fixed time; c) detecting and differentiating at least one marker of APC induced by T cells of a specific T cell population with the first aliquot and a second aliquot of the individual's body fluid that is not incubated with the at least one antigen by using reverse transcription quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction, and d) detecting and quantifying the T cell population by determining the ratio of the first aliquot versus second aliquot of the detection marker of APC.SELECTED DRAWING: None
