PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a respiration state estimation apparatus, a respiration state estimation method, and a program capable of providing useful information for diagnosis of a pathology related to respiration during sleep.SOLUTION: According to one embodiment, a respiration state estimation apparatus, which is mounted on a user during sleep for estimation of the user's respiration state, is provided. Respiration measurement means measures a first signal related to a respiratory fluctuation of the user. Body movement measurement means measures a second signal related to a movement of the trunk of the user. Respiration detection means detects whether or not the user is in a respiratory arrest state, based on the first signal measured by the respiration measurement means. Body movement detection means detects whether or not the trunk of the user is moving, based on the second signal measured by the body movement measurement means. Estimation means estimates the respiration state of the user, based on a detection result by the respiration detection means and a detection result by the body movement detection means. Output means outputs respiration state information indicating the estimated respiration state.
