PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromechanical surgical system.SOLUTION: An electromechanical surgical system 10 comprises: an end effector 14 configured to perform at least one function; a shaft assembly 16 being arranged for selectively interconnecting the end effector and a hand-held surgical instrument 12, the hand-held surgical instrument including an instrument housing defining a connecting portion for selectively connecting with the shaft assembly; a motor assembly 28; a sensor array 32 configured to obtain at least one acoustic metric of the hand-held surgical instrument; and a controller 18 configured to control operation of the hand-held surgical instrument on the basis of the acoustic metric obtained by the sensor array.
