A tissue repair patch is disclosed having a base member (610) and an opening (620) therethrough, and a closure member (not shown) associated with the opening. The positioning structure (670) is attached to the periphery of the bottom surface of the base member. In a preferred embodiment, the base member includes a mesh and can be used for hernia repair and other repairs of body wall defects in open surgical procedures.
