PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hardness tester and a hardness test method which allow for identifying difference in elastic property of each sample.;SOLUTION: The hardness tester includes; indenting means (CPU 61) which forms an indentation on a surface of a sample S using an indenter 14a; first area computation means (CPU 61) which computes an area M1 of the indentation under pressure formed on the surface of the sample S while being pressed by the indenter 14a; image capturing control means (CPU 61) which controls a CCD camera 12 to have image data of the surface of the sample S acquired; second area computation means (CPU 61) which computes an area M2 of the indentation left on the surface of the sample S based on the acquired image data; elasticity indicator value computation means (CPU 61) which computes an elasticity indicator value A of the sample S based on the area M1 of the indentation under pressure and the area M2 of the indentation; and hardness value computation means (CPU 61) which computes a hardness value HV of the sample S based on the indentation left on the surface of the sample S.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT
