PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool steel having high thermal conductivity at room temperature.SOLUTION: A tool steel has a thermal conductivity of more than 42 W/mK at room temperature and contains 0.26 to 0.55 wt.% of C, 2 wt.% of Cr, 0 to 10 wt.% of Mo, 0 to 15 wt.% of W, the total amount of W and Mo of 1.8 to 15 wt.%, the content of 0 to 3 wt.% as single or total of carbide forming elements Ti, Zr, Hf, Nb, Ta, 0 to 4 wt.% of V, 0 to 6 wt.% of Co, 0 to 1.6 wt.% of Si, 0 to 2 wt.% of Mn, 0 to 2.99 wt.% of Ni, 0 to 1 wt.% of S and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities.
