PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for allowing a device to gain access and to be delivered to the heart.SOLUTION: A system used to provide access to the heart 400 via the left atrial appendage 401 comprises: a first access element with a first alignment member 414; a second access element with a second alignment member 404; a piercing element; and an exchange element. The system may further include a left atrial appendage stabilization device. A method for accessing the heart 400 via the left atrial appendage 401 may comprise: advancing the first access element into the left atrial appendage by way of an intravascular pathway; and advancing the second access element toward the left atrial appendage by way of the pericardial space. The first and second alignment members form an attachment through the wall of the left atrial appendage so that the first and second access elements are aligned.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
