PARTICULATE MATTER DETECTOR AND PARTICULATE MATTER DETECTION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a particulate matter detector capable of being mounted in a vehicle and detecting an amount of particulate matter 7 contained in exhaust gas, and a particulate matter detection method.;SOLUTION: A particulate matter detector 1 comprises: particulate amount detection means 2, a control unit 4 and heating means 3. The control unit 4 contains particulate-size-related data, accumulated-mass-related data, and mean density data. The control unit 4 calculates a mean particulate size using the particulate-size-related data on the basis of an output amplification factor, calculates a mean particulate volume on the basis of the mean particulate size, and calculates a mean mass of particulate matter by multiplying the mean particulate volume by the mean density data. The control unit 4 calculates an accumulated mass of the particulate matter accumulated in an accumulation target portion using the accumulated-mass-related data on the basis of a heating electric signal. Furthermore, the control unit 4 can calculate an accumulated amount of the particulate matter accumulated in the accumulation target portion by dividing the accumulated mass by the mean mass.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2016,JPO&INPIT
