PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such problems of a conventional video camera that the time when it is not used is longer than the time when it is used for event shooting of a wedding ceremony, an athletic meet, a graduation ceremony and the like, that a sleeping camera cannot be used for crime prevention because it has no function for automatically starting or ending video recording, and to provide a portable digital apparatus ensuring greatly improved usability because a moving image or a still image can be recorded automatically when something moves in a frame of a size set freely by zooming.SOLUTION: After installed toward a target, a camera is brought into video recording standby state by turning the automatic video recording mode on, an image of every moment is compared and video recording is started when a difference occurs between preceding and following images. Thereafter, video recording is stopped at a moment in time when the difference between the images disappears, and prepares for the next automatic video recording scene by returning back to the video recording standby state.
