PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an increase in resistance to a hull with a transom stern shape navigating in following waves and in following and quartering waves.SOLUTION: A device (1) for reducing an increase in in-wave resistance is supported by support means (8, 9) provided in the hull (2) having the stern (3) with the transom stern shape and includes stern bluntness coefficient reducing means (6, 7) for reducing the magnitude of a stern bluntness coefficient of the transom stern shape. The device for reducing an increase in in-wave resistance can set the magnitude of a stern bluntness coefficient of the transom stern shape to a lower magnitude to reduce an increase in the resistance of following waves and following and quartering waves in the waves, thereby enabling an energy-saved operation.
