PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contact charging method and a contact charging system of an electric vehicle for preventing a contact state from not being secured even when the electric vehicle swings in a vertical direction during traveling while carrying out charging in contact with a power supply device through a charging arm.SOLUTION: While an electric vehicle 10 is traveling, a charging arm 18 is extended in a vehicle width direction, a cathode overhead wire 24p of a power supply device 26 and a cathode power receiving part 36p of the charging arm 18 and an anode overhead wire 24n of the power supply device 26 and an anode power receiving part 36n of the charging arm 18 are simultaneously brought into contact, and a driving power storage device of the electric vehicle 10 is charged. Even when the charging arm 18 swings in the vertical direction due to conditions of a road surface or a brake operation or the like, a charging head 34 which is a distal end of the charging arm 18 is held inside a V-shaped groove 23 to which the cathode overhead wire 24p and the anode overhead wire 24n are attached, and the contact is prevented from not being secured.
