Cemented carbide blank for the production of cemented carbide insert and a cutting insert

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cemented carbide insert for cutting, especially for turning, and to provide a cemented carbide blank for manufacturing the cemented carbide insert.;SOLUTION: The cemented carbide insert has: a top surface (1); a bottom surface (2); a plurality of side surfaces extending between the top surface (1) and the bottom surface (2); and cutting edges (3a and 3b). Each of the cutting edges: includes a nose cutting edge (5) and two main cutting edges (4) converging to the nose cutting edge (5); and is provided to an inset (14). The inset is made of a material harder than the cemented carbide, buried in the cemented carbide, and ground together with the cemented carbide. The inset is arranged at a wedge-shaped head part (7) on the front side, and demarcated by one flat chip surface (71) and two flanks (72) extending along the main cutting edges. The inset has a transition between a slanted body (8) on the rear side via limiting surfaces (81 and 82) arranged inside the virtual surfaces on extensions of the flat chip surface (71) and the flank (72).;COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
