PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting general Vibrio parahaemolyticus including non-pathogenic strains (herein after referred to as vibrio) and food-poisoning Vibrio parahaemolyticus (herein after referred to as pathogenic vibrio) at the same time with high specificity.SOLUTION: Provided is a method for detecting pathogenic vibrio and general vibrio including pathogenic vibrio at the same time, where genomic DNA extracted from a sample is used as a template, and multiplex PCR is carried out to amplify a DNA fragment comprising pathogenicity expression regulatory gene (toxR), a DNA fragment comprising thermostable direct hemolysin gene (tdh) and a DNA fragment comprising tdh-related hemolysin (trh) at the same time for detecting the presence or absence of respective amplified products, which enables detection of the presence or absence of pathogenic vibrio and the presence or absence of general vibrio in the sample.
