PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method and apparatus for purifying an aqueous solution of iron chloride (II) (SEL waste acid) that can reduce a Si concentration from over 100 mg/kg to 30 mg/kg or more and 100 mg/kg or less, without adding an agent to precipitate or agglomerate silica particles and consuming an agent to adjust pH.;SOLUTION: A method for purifying an aqueous solution of iron chloride (II) includes a dissolving step of dissolving an iron chloride (II) powder generated in a manufacturing process of a nonoriented electromagnetic steel plate containing silicon in water within a dissolving tank to produce the aqueous solution of iron chloride (II) having an adjusted concentration of the iron chloride (II) of 19-26 mass%, a settling step of pumping the aqueous solution of iron chloride (II) to a settling tank and generating a supernatant and a precipitate by standing, the supernatant having a Si concentration of 30 mg/kg or more and 100 mg/kg or less, and a separation and recovery step of pumping the supernatant to a recovery tank.
