A chimeric protein contains a first portion of a First Protein polypeptide of Oxr (oxidative Resistance); and a second portion of a Second Protein polypeptide of Oxr, being the second polypeptide portion attached to the first portion of the polypeptide.So that the first and the second portion of the chimeric protein polypeptide are combined in an order or with a spacing that do not exist in nature. Also provided are isolated polynucleotides Oxr and polynucleotides encoding the chimeric protein, as well as plants transformed with the polynucleotides.
