"Interleukin-2-derived immunomodulatory polypeptide, fusion protein, pharmaceutical composition and use of the polypeptide and fusion protein". The present invention relates generally to polypeptides whose primary sequence has a high homology to the human interleukin-2 (il-2) sequence with some point mutations in the native il-2 sequence. The polypeptides of the present invention have an immunomodulatory effect on the immune system which is selective / preferential over regulatory T cells. The present invention also relates to specific polypeptides whose amino acid sequence is disclosed in the present invention. in another aspect the present invention relates to pharmaceutical compositions comprising as an active ingredient the disclosed polypeptides. Finally the present invention relates to the therapeutic use of the disclosed polypeptides and pharmaceutical compositions given their immune system modulating effect on conditions such as cancer and chronic infectious diseases.
