A method and system for analysis of events and alarms in an industrial plant. Event data is collected from a plurality of sources in the industrial plant, filter conditions are set to filter the event data, macro analysis is performed on the filtered event data, current status of the industrial plant is saved, synchronized micro analysis is then performed on the process data, the analyzed data is then collected, classified and an analysis report is prepared. The analysis report is then sent to a user in the industrial plant to make improvements in the industrial plant on the basis of the analysis report. An improvement report is then created on the improvements made in the industrial plant.
