A dissolvable strip comprising: (iv) 60 to 95% of at least one hydrophilic film forming polymer; (v) 0.2 to 4.0% of at least one binder; and (vi) 5-35% of at least one betel quid ingredient and/or tobacco. A process for preparation of a dissolvable strip, the process comprising: (vi) drying and grinding of at least one betel quid ingredient and /or tobacco, and other optional raw materials followed by sieving the ingredients to a desired particle size; (vii) adding 60 to 95% of at least one hydrophilic film forming polymer and 0.2 to 4.0% of at least one binder to the betel quid ingredients and /or tobacco followed by mixing in hot water under high shear to provide a homogeneous mixture; (viii) cooling the homogeneous mixture followed by, optionally adding flavourants and colouring agents; (ix) casting the homogeneous mixture onto a steel plate and/or plastic web and forming into a strip; drying the strip to a desired moisture level followed by cutting to a desired shape and size to provide the dissolvable strip.
