The present invention discloses an in vitro method of predicting whether an ovarian cancer patient's tumor is resistant to a chemotherapeutic drug comprising the steps of (a) measuring a gene expression level of S100A11 in: (i) an ovarian cancer tumor sample taken from the patient, and (ii) a chemotherapeutic drug responsive ovarian tumor sample; (b) comparing the expression level of said gene in the ovarian cancer tumor sample taken from the patient and the chemotherapeutic drug responsive ovarian tumor sample; and (c) determining that the ovarian cancer patient's tumor is resistant to the chemotherapeutic drug when the expression level of said gene in the ovarian cancer tumor sample taken from the patient is at least 1.2-fold greater than the expression level of said gene in the chemotherapeutic drug responsive ovarian tumor sample.
