A method and system for de-noising low illuminated image using a multi-frame, multi-level noise removal technique is proposed. The method performs capturing the low illuminated image in a burst mode to obtain multiple frames of a scene or an object of interest. Further, the method performs selecting the reference frame from the captured multiple frames and align all other multiple frames with the selected reference frame. In an embodiment, the alignment of frames is performed using a multi-level translation technique. Furthermore, the method performs noise removal from the aligned frames using a multi-level noise removal technique. The multi- level noise removal provides two levels of de-noising. Finally, the method applies contrast enhancement technique to enhance the quality of the processed output image. The method and system provides a time efficient de-noising technique that optimizes the performance of alignment of captured multiple frames. FIG. 2
