Provided is a method for manufacturing a crystalline silicon solar cell, which has high conversion efficiency and a finely machined light input surface. This method for manufacturing a crystalline silicon solar cell includes: a first transparent electrode layer forming step for forming a first transparent electrode layer (6); and a rear surface electrode layer forming step for forming a rear surface electrode layer (11) on the substantially whole surface on the second main surface side, said rear surface electrode layer having copper as a main component. After the first transparent electrode layer forming step and the rear surface electrode layer forming step, an insulating step for forming an insulating region (30) is performed such that a short-circuiting between at least the first transparent electrode layer (6) on the first main surface side, and at least a second transparent electrode layer (10) and the rear surface electrode layer (11) on the second main surface side is removed. The insulating step has a step for radiating a laser beam to a position within 3 mm from the outer circumferential side surface of a one conductivity-type single crystalline silicon substrate (2), said laser beam being radiated from the first main surface side to the whole circumference of a first main surface outer circumferential portion.
